GENERAL AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN
FOR DISNEY’S THE LION KING INTERNATIONAL TOUR
The search is on for confident children aged between 8 and 11 years to play the roles of Young Simba and Young Nala in the International Tour of The Lion King. The children will join the production for rehearsals in South Korea (March 2022) and continue to tour internationally. The opportunity will suit children with personality, as well as natural actors/singers who can move well. Previous performance experience is not necessary. We strongly encourage children of all cultural backgrounds to audition.
Seeking:
Young Simba – To play the male cub. Looking for a natural actor/singer who can move well – the future King of the Pridelands. A natural talent with charm and charisma, able to hold the stage on his own with confidence. Looking for children with personality.
Young Nala – To play the female cub. Looking for a natural young actor/singer who can move well – a confident young lady cub to keep Simba in his place. A natural talent with personality, confidence, and strength. Looking for children with personality.
Children auditioning must:
- Be aged between 8 and 11 years old
- Have a natural talent for singing/acting.
- Move well.
- Be confident.
Auditions:
Registration
The online registration form below must be completed by midnight on Saturday 27 November for each person wanting to audition. The form should be completed by a parent or guardian. If you do not register by this date, we may not be able to fit you into the audition schedule.
Location
Auditions will be held at a venue in central Sydney on Saturday 4, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 December 2021. All participants must be available to attend auditions on all three days.
Audition Confirmation
You will receive an email with the date, time, and venue of your audition after registrations have closed. If we receive a higher than anticipated number of registrations, call times will be allocated in order of registration and we may not be able to offer everyone an audition place.
Audition Process:
What to prepare
Children should be prepared to sing the final verse of I Just Can’t Wait to be King, and to learn a short piece of choreography during the audition. Audition material will be provided by email with your confirmation of audition.
What to bring
- We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that are easy to move in.
- Children should come prepared with a bottle of water and snack.
- Please bring a headshot/clear photograph of the child auditioning with their name written clearly on the back.
On the day
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who always remains at the audition site.
Parents/guardians must remain in the waiting area for the entirety of the audition process and may not enter the audition room.
In the audition, the children will sing in front of each other and work on the choreography both individually and as a group.
After the audition we will let the parent/guardian know if their child is invited for a call back audition. Call back auditions will happen on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 December 2021. Children may be asked to learn further material for the call back auditions.
COVID-19 Safety
- Comprehensive COVID-19 safety measures will be in place.
- All people aged 16 and above must provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of entry to the audition venue.
- One parent/guardian only may accompany each child auditioning.
- Masks must be worn at all times by attendees over the age of 12.
- Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the venue
- Please practice physical distancing as required
Other information
Any child that is cast in the production must be available exclusively from March 2022 and be prepared to tour internationally with a parent/guardian from that time. The accompanying parent/guardian must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a vaccine recognised by Australian authorities.
It is the individual’s responsibility to attend the auditions, including any cost of travel and/or accommodation.
The Lion King is a professional production and the roles will be paid in line with industry standards.
