Cher’s remarkably true story is brought to life in this new musical based on the life and six-decade career of the diva also known as Cherilyn Sarkisian La Piere Bono Allman (and simply Cher).
The World Premiere will be in Chicago’s Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St, from June 12 to July 15, followed by its Broadway opening at the Neil Simon Theatre in the fall.
The musical is penned by Rick Elice (“Jersey Boys”), with choreography by Christopher Gattelli (“Newsies”) and direction by Jason Moore (“Avenue Q”), produced by Flody Suarez and Jeffrey Seller.
Casting has yet to be announced for the Broadway-bound musical, but expect plenty of songs from her danceable catalogue of hits, including “I Got You Babe,” “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves,” “Take Me Home,” “Believe,” and “If I Could Turn Back Time.”
